The fiber optic cable has been repaired and all connections are active again.
Our leased fiber optic line between Munich and Frankfurt near Stuttgart was damaged during highway construction. A survey and repair team from the carrier is already on its way. Due to the redundant network design, there are currently no service outages.
This incident has been resolved, the fiber team has finished cable splicing.
Early this morning, a redundant Juniper chassis switch failed. Alerting began at 6:29 a.m. local time, but the problem could not be resolved remotely. On-call staff arrived at the data center around 7:26 a.m. Analysis began at 7:36 a.m., rebooting the individual affected switch segment without success. The entire switch segment was then rebooted successfully, and all services were restored around 8:30 a.m. We are currently monitoring the situation closely and reserve the right to take further action (replacement, etc.) for short-term emergency maintenance in the evening. Affected were mail services and web hosting services.
